Africa Football Business Summit 2023 continues with the theme of the inaugural edition, Transforming Our Game. African football needs a transformation – fundamental changes in the management and administration of the sport from the grassroots to the elite level, ensuring its socio-economic viability. Further, the inaugural Africa Football Business Summit emphasised the need for continuous capacity building through education on the various aspects of the football business and the need to develop and invest in better grassroots structures leveraging research, technology, and innovation.

The Football Foundation for Africa and the Africa Football Business Summit organising team are working with stakeholders to develop the content for this year’s Summit to ensure an exciting, engaging, relevant and impactful programme. The following themes are under consideration and development, and we welcome input from interested stakeholders. The Summit will deliver the content through keynote addresses, panel discussions, interviews, industry presentations and workshops.

Women’s football will feature prominently in our deliberations, from improving playing opportunities to the involvement of more women in the football business, including increasing women’s participation in football leadership from the grassroots to the elite level.

Towards Sustainability

Now is the time to build sustainable organisations that are fit for the future, and sports is no exception. As we navigate the post-pandemic era, the escalating climate emergency and the unprecedented cost of living, our actions and influence as a growing sector are more important than ever. The increasing interest and investment in the African football industry necessitate consideration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. Sustainability will therefore be an overarching theme in the programme.
