From Vision to Value: Building a Sustainable Football Economy for Africa
African football stands at a defining moment.
Africa continues to produce some of the world’s greatest football talent while shaping global sport, culture and media. Yet too much of the economic value generated by African football continues to be realised beyond the continent. The challenge before us is not simply how to grow the game, but how to build the systems, institutions and industries that allow Africa to participate more meaningfully in the value it creates.
This requires a shift in how we think about football. Beyond competition and entertainment, football can be an engine for investment, job creation, infrastructure development, tourism, innovation and stronger communities. Realising that potential requires better governance, stronger grassroots systems, sustainable investment models and greater collaboration between football, government, business and society.
AFBS 2026 creates a continental platform for those conversations to become action. It brings together leaders from across football, business, government, investment, media, technology and development to exchange ideas, forge partnerships and explore practical solutions for building sustainable football ecosystems across Africa.
Our ambition is not simply to discuss the future of African football, but to help shape it—moving from fragmented interventions towards ecosystems capable of creating lasting economic, social and institutional value on the continent.
The Africa Football Business Summit is more than a convening. It is part of a movement to transform football into strategic infrastructure for Africa’s development.
